Pulsed Light hair systems work by emitting pulses of light energy into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles where it is converted to heat. Heat loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for new hair growth. Treatments are safe and more tolerable than older traditional hair removal methods such as waxing and electrolysis. All areas of the body can be treated with exception of the eyebrows.

How Should I Prepare for a Treatment?
Preparing for treatments is easy. Shave the area to be treated just before you come and avoid the use of moisturizers. It is very important to avoid direct sun exposure, self-tanners and sun tanning beds 4 weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, let your treatment provider know so we can proceed safely. Individuals with a darker skin type will need to have spot tests performed prior to treatment. This will give us a baseline so we can ensure the safest course of treatment.
After treatment you may experience some mild redness and warmth similar to that of a mild sunburn. This is normal and usually subsides within a couple of hours. Some clients experience no symptoms or side effects at all. You may resume your normal activities immediately but we recommend that you avoid heat sources such as Jacuzzis and hot tubs, for 24 hours. The number of treatments necessary to achieve the desired results will vary. We tell clients to expect between 4-8 sessions with an average of 6. The interval between treatments depends upon the area treated but is usually around 6 weeks between sessions.
